At the time, throughout my whole K–12 experience, it always felt simple. You walk through the line, grab your food, and go. I never thought twice about it.
What I didn't see
Looking back, I realize how much I took for granted. Every single day, food was ready. Lines moved quickly. Everything just worked.
What I didn't see was everything happening behind the scenes: the planning, the staffing, the vendors, the compliance, and the pressure to get it right — every single day.
Why I started Inside School Nutrition
I kept hearing the same thing from school nutrition directors:
"Finding the right software is such a stressful process."
And it hit me — there's no single place where you can see all your options side by side. So I built one.
What this is
Inside School Nutrition is a simple idea: a clearer picture of what's actually out there.
Why this matters to me
I believe there should be more transparency when it comes to school nutrition software and systems. There are a lot of options out there, and it's not always clear what actually works best for different schools.
My goal is to help school leaders make better decisions — and ultimately feel more supported in their roles. Because from everything I've seen, it's a really hard job. One that takes a lot of coordination, responsibility, and constant problem-solving.
Honestly, it's not a job I'd be good at — which is exactly why I respect the people doing it every day.
